The natural pools of Solenzara – La Vacca

Undoubtedly the most beautiful natural pools in the Solenzara valley.

Located in the commune of Quenza, the Vacca natural pools are a unique site. Less crowded than the valley’s other natural pools, the Vacca basins are easily accessible from the road.

Waterfalls, natural slides and turquoise pools are the ideal place to discover the Aiguilles de Bavella massif.

If you like waterfalls, the Purcaraccia waterfalls are just around the corner from the Vacca natural pools. These are without doubt the island’s most famous waterfalls.

The Solenzara natural pool – U Ponte Grossu

The meeting of the Fiumicelli and Vacca rivers gives rise to the Solenzara at the U Ponte Grossu natural pools. An ideal spot for a family swim.

Access: The natural pools are just beyond the U Ponte Grossu campsite. After the bridge, you’ll find a large parking lot. Parking for the natural pools is free.

Swimming in the heart of the Bavella massif will be an unforgettable part of your vacation in Corsica.

The natural pools of Solenzara – U Rosumarinu

These are the first natural pools you’ll encounter on your way up the Solenzara valley. The U Rosumarinu natural pools are located at kilometer 7 of the D268 road.

Parking is available at the restaurant. A staircase leads from the parking lot to the riverbed.

U Rosumarinu’s natural pools are very popular in summer. We advise you to move away from the main pool downstream from the parking lot for a more leisurely swim.

The main pool features 6-metre and 3-metre jumps.

Geography of the Solenzara river

Located in southern Corsica, the Solenzara is a 22-kilometer-long river. It rises at an altitude of 1145 meters in the commune of Quenza, in the heart of the Bavella peaks range. The Solenzara is one of the island’s coastal rivers.

The Solenzara is the main river of the Bavella massif. Most of the rivers in the Bavella range flow into the Solenzara in southern Corsica. The Solenzara valley is one of the most beautiful on the island.

The Solenzara river is pretty cool, but there are also natural hot-water pools in Corsica if you fancy a change.

Near the Solenzara, we recommend a swim in the Cavu pools, just a few minutes from Porto Vecchio. Access to the Cavu pools is very simple, and it’s easy to find a parking spot in the Cavu valley in just a few minutes.
